SMS Data Community Map
A community map based on SMS data differentiates itself from the previous community definition based on call data. In this map, more communities emerge, indicating that a different social phenomenon is at play here. SMS interaction between people does not seem to have as geographically far-reaching effect as actually calling someone. Some of the sister states from the call data community map change with SMS, e.g., Georgia-Alabama and Louisiana-Mississippi, which break up to make Mississippi-Alabama and 2 stand-alone states. Oklahoma-Arkansas breaks up, while West Virginia and Ohio join. California splits into 3 communities compared to 2 communities with the call data.
